Three honest buckets
Spark ($8k, 2–3 weeks) is a sharp landing page or a focused refresh when the offer is already clear. Craft (typically $22k, 4–8 weeks) is the product website or compact app most teams actually need: IA, visual system, production build, SEO, and handoff. Partner ($6k/month) is a senior pod for teams that want continuous shipping without hiring yet.
Those are starting shapes, not a menu you order from a dark kitchen. Scope is confirmed together before we begin so the number and the milestone match.
What moves the price
More templates, more languages, a CMS, complex booking or configurators, and brand-from-zero all add time. A site that explains one product to one audience is cheaper than a platform that must sell three SKUs, a blog, and a logged-in app on day one.
The expensive path is starting without a sentence. If you cannot say who it is for and what should happen next, you are paying the studio to find the offer — which is legitimate work, but it is strategy, not “just a website.”
What you should not pay for
Mystery discovery that produces a deck and no build. Junior staffing after a director-led pitch. Stock component libraries dressed up as a custom system. Unlimited revision language that hides an unbounded timeline.
Prefer 50% to start and 50% on launch, out-of-scope quoted before it begins, and a named person you can email without a ticket portal.
